From the worldArizona Delegation Arrives for Allocation Review With Data and a Price

political · front-range · arc: the-allocation · magnitude 0.63
Arizona’s allocation delegation arrived in Denver carrying the withheld Colorado gauge archive, a proposed surcharge on Mountain West grid transfers, and a demand that the coming review begin from revised basin assumptions. Denver’s water office said the restored data would be independently checked before it informed any spring decision.
No ration change accompanied the arrival. The practical consequence, for now, is a week of sharper numbers behind closed doors and a little less confidence in the late-June forecast.

From the worldA Long, Dry Friday Lets the Rail District Work With Its Doors Open

environmental · denver · magnitude 0.18
After a cold dawn, clear March sun pushed the flats into the low sixties by midafternoon. Loading bays stood open along the old rail spurs; welders, frame shops, and small repair yards took advantage before the forecast weekend wind.
The city’s pollen and dust advisory remained low after last week’s wet snow, an unremarkable piece of good luck in a dry spring.

At 4:18, the south loading bay stood open to the dry heat and the little noises of the rail district: a grinder whining two buildings over, somebody dropping chain into a truck bed. June sat at the loom with Milo’s revised sequence clipped beside the heddles. Her phone lay face-down on the floor, its three unopened messages held under a spool of rust-colored wool.
Ondine came through the bay carrying her camera, stopped when she saw the loom, and began to turn back. June caught the strap before she could put it over her shoulder. “Take one,” she said. “Not my face.”
Ondine looked from June’s hands to the phone under the spool. “For who?” June tugged the weft through too hard; the edge puckered. Then she said, “My mother. I want her to see I didn’t stop.” Ondine lifted the camera. June did not sit straighter. She left the bad edge in, the cracked skin beside her thumbnail, the revision sheet with its penciled intervals. “Don’t make it look better,” she said. Ondine took three frames and, when the shutter settled, did not take a fourth.
